Us and those boys from Maine, DOUR! [05 Jul 2006|12:42pm]

14 bands played our NEPGM Fest BBQ this past Saturday.
The band that gets the award for traveling the further are Portland, Maine, metalers DOUR (http://www.myspace.com/dourmusic).

We (Anderson & Matthew of http://www.nepgmfest.com) are pleased to announce that Dour guitarist Derric Stevyn has joined our team as the regional Maine representative.

Auditions for alternative bands wishing to play the 2006 New England Punk, Goth, and Metal Festival (Sept. 30- Oct. 1, ostensibly at the Palladium in Worcester if no one throws a monkey wrench in our engines) are being held all-day on Saturday, August 5th, at The Station on St. John Street in Portland, Maine. Sign up your band on our official website if you would like to audition, or get in touch with Derric from Dour (derric@nepgmfest.com). We would like to thank Derric and all of Dour for their hard work and dedication to not only the NEPGM Fest, but the New England music scene. Please add them on myspace, and try to make out to a show!!!

A Bit of a blur, but you get the pictureCollapse )

Alternative Musicians of all genres, rejoice!

The New England Punk, Goth, and Metal Festival (http://www.nepgmfest.com) has expanded their band search into Maine. Now in our 2nd year, we are taking our auditions on the road as part of the "7yvyn Sities of Syn Tour".

The Portland area auditions will be held on SATURDAY, AUGUST 5th, from 1:00-9:00 PM, at the following location:

Station Night Club & Restaurant
272 Saint John St
Portland, ME 04101
Phone: (207) 773-3466

Bands will be competing for a slot on the NEPGM Fest, a 40+ band event to take place on 9/30-10/1 in Massachusetts, and may sign up on our website at:

We are also looking for local radio stations and media outlets to host booths at this August 5th audition show. This event will be all-ages, and a great opportunity to reach out to the local constituency. Vendors and craftspersons are welcome to sell their wares at this event also.

TOMORROW NIGHT-NO ON 1 [24 Oct 2005|07:33pm]

CLOSE TO HOME, an original dramatic production written and performed by Mainers, is touring the state this fall to raise awareness and facilitate community dialogue about the November 8th civil rights referendum. Our group is committed to educating Maine audiences about the content of the referendum and the hurtful effects of discrimination in our communities.

Referendum ..1, which would remove the category of “sexual orientation” from the Maine law protecting citizens from discrimination in employment, housing or access to public accommodations, has been brought to the ballot through a petition drive organized by Michael Heath and his organization, the Christian Civic League (CCL.) The CCL would have voters believe that discrimination based on sexual orientation does not exist and therefore requires no specific protection by the law.

Discrimination does exist. It happens in Maine, and real people are affected. The law should protect Maine citizens from discrimination of all types, including discrimination based on a person's actual or perceived heterosexuality, bisexuality, homosexuality or gender identity or expression.Maine needs to stand firm with the rest of our New England states in offering this protection to our citizens.

The referendum that will be put before the voters on November 8th asks the question: "Do you want to repeal the law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation?" Our performance will help voters understand that voting NO will preserve Maine’s current law.

We're UFO Music, a label that is for a revolution in the music industry, and at the moment we're looking for label reps to help us out with shows in the Maine area (and beyond). Basically its an entry position with great potential for growth (possibly A&R work if things work out).

First job is simple. We have a group called Enter the Hagis that has a show in November in Portland. We would basically need you to hand out stickers at the show and possibly put up flyers at retail/clubs. If you're interested there is a free ticket in there for you.

- Good Work ethic
- 21+ (specifically for this show, if you aren't you can still contact us and we'll put you on the list for future shows)

If you are at all interested, please let us know ASAP.
